On October 3, 2018, the Coalition for Clean Air will host the first statewide Clean Air Day. The Committee has a goal of involving 1 million Californians in activities that educate the public and reduce air pollution.
Regional committees in seven targeted communities across the state have been created to support and activate around Clean Air Day. One of these communities is San Bernardino and a committee has been working to develop a fun and educational program with that day with the San Bernardino City Unified School District.
“As chair of the California Clean Air Day regional committee for San Bernardino, it’s gratifying to see so many businesses, civic leaders and educators coming together to support clean air across our region,” said Dan Murphy, Vice President of Philanthropy for Dignity Health Inland Empire. “This has truly been a collaborative effort and Dignity Health for one is pleased to be a part of it.”

On October 3, E. Neal Roberts Elementary will be hosting a morning assembly for its 470 students to promote both Safe Routes 2 School and CA Clean Air Day. “We are delighted to participate in California Clean Air Day bringing attention to the continued need to maintain and improve our state’s air quality,” said Beatriz Gonzalez, Principal at E. Neal Roberts. “Our kids are our future and we owe it to them to ensure a clean, healthy environment for generations to come.”
The assembly will feature local elected officials include the kids citing a “Clean Air Day” pledge, modified from the Clean Air Day pledge featured on the Clean Air Day website.
Committee member and SoCal Gas public affairs manager, Kristine Scott, added, “Businesses in our community do their part every day to maintain the economic vitality of San Bernardino by creating good jobs, great schools and safe communities. Ensuring that our air is safe to breath is just as much a part of that. I commend all the partners that worked together to make this year’s California Clean Air Day possible, and to once again remind us of the various ways we can each do our part to keep our air clean and protect our quality of life.”
